its okay to be broken

I was walking out of mass yesterday and looked up at the sky to see beams of light breaking through the dark storm clouds above, and thought to myself how beautiful is it that light always finds a way to break through the darkness.

This is something I think about all the time because it something that I am constantly reminded of.

I am reminded of it when light finds its way though the cracks of my window.

I see it when light manages to push its way through the clouds.

I marvel at the way light finds its way through all the little spaces between the leaves in the trees.

I watch light everyday and witness they way it aways, always finds a way to break through the darkness and shine.

It has always served as such a beautiful reminder to me of the way God works too.

To say that the world we live in is harsh feels like an understatement. Most of our hearts are a map of cracks at this point. We spend so much of our time fixing our hearts with tape and glue trying to make them look whole again, not even realizing that the cracks we are trying so desperately to hide have the ability to be the most beautiful parts of us. If we allow Him in to shine.

If we set aside the tape and glue and allow him to find his way through our broken pieces think of the people his light could shine on.

Think of all the lives that could be changed.

So often we look at our brokenness as though it is weakness that we need to hid from the world around us, but the older I get and the more I watch the way light moves the more I realizes that embracing brokenness takes strength. It's embracing brokenness that causes change in our own lives and in the lives of those around us.

incase you're feeling broken right now I just wanted to let you know that its okay being broken, because that is how He'll use you to shine.

"You are beautiful, your are lovely, you are delightful, you are worthy, you are enough" --Father John Burns
